Ivory District[edit | edit source]
Glass had to visit the Ivory District a second time after Duke Ivory choked to death on his signet ring—which he was in
a bad habit of chewing while pondering his rulings—leaving his wrinkled uncle to sit the Ivory chair. Ivory’s new Duke, an aged, ebony man, has an elaborate crest depicting a ferocious beast with spectacular horns no one had seen in an age...
People[edit | edit source]
- Duke Ivory—Choked on his signet ring and died.
- Duke Ivory’s uncle, “Tusk”—An old man who became the new duke when Duke Ivory died.
Buildings[edit | edit source]
- The Ivory Square— The famous white cobbles were “cut from the tusks of a thousand mammoths.” It is the most valuable street in the world. Flat and round, they give the square a dotted look. Guards are posted on wooden platforms at every corner to ensure no industrious commoners try to pry up the disks, and Ivory District children scramble about, scrubbing the ground even as the people of Filth walk on it.
Quotes[edit | edit source]
“’Unrest is your problem, Carpenter,’ Ivory grumbled. ‘Some of us have control of our districts’”
“Steel met Ivory and Wine with a broad smile and outstretched arm. “Peace among us, Lords.”
“Keep those big mitts away from me, Steel,” Ivory grumbled.
Steel stiffened. “What have I done to offend you, my good Duke?”
“Nothing. It’s just that you’re like to crush these old fingers to powder in those monstrous hands of yours like an alchemist’s mortar and pestle.”
